Production Diary 4- Idea Updates
Our current idea has remained relatively identical to our
initial idea. Our chosen genre is Indie, and our chosen song She Moves in
Her Own Way by the Kooks. We will abide by the codes and conventions of the
indie genre such as urban and easily accessible locations, basic costume, and
to present performance within our music video.
Our narrative remains the same. We have 3 main characters;
Sarah, Sapphire and Alex. The story line is based on romance and relationships. We
are going to show the breakdown and rebuild of Alex an Sarah’s relationship
abiding by the 5 stages of Todorov’s narrative theory.
We have decided to follow Laura Mulvey’s male gaze theory
when representing our stereotypical character, Sarah. We will dress her and
style her in order to appeal to the male audience, and to contrast with the counter-stereo
typical character Sapphire, whose carefree persona juxtaposes with Mulvey’s
idea.
My group and I have now started to consider the digi-pack and
the poster in terms of synergy between all three products: the music video, digi-pack,
and poster.
We will achieve this by using identical colour schemes, the same
stereotypical representations, the same artist and the same fonts and layout
for all three products.
Synergy provides a link between all products which allows the
audience an understanding of how a particular artist/band wishes to represent
themselves.
